Thank You so much for giving of your time in mentoring a young person in their faith.  You have changed a life and made a heavenly difference.  May God bless you richly even as you have richly blessed these young people.  I am eternally blessed to be in ministry with you.

As a mentor to                                                      , I vow to:

  • support and nurture him/her throughout the confirmation process.
  • pray for him/her each day.
  • sit with him/her in worship at least once each month.
  • be ready and willing to listen to his/her questions and concerns.
  • get to know about his/her interests
  • visit with him/her at least once a week, whether in person, over the phone, or online.
  • send him/her encouraging and/or congratulatory messages on his/her birthday  (                           )         and in anticipation of or response to other important events in his/her life. 
  • participate alongside him/her in at least one service project or other church activity.
  • serve alongside him/her as a liturgist.
  • be for him/her an example of an adult Christian with an honest and maturing faith.

As a mentor to, I do not need to:
  • have all the answers.
  • have a scholarly knowledge of Scripture and Christian theology.
  • be perfect.

For the sake of safety and security and as the best Christian witness, I will:
  • never meet with him/her alone behind closed doors.
  • not drive him/her anywhere unless another adult is in the car.
  • copy his/her parents or Pastor Melva on any e-mail messages or messages sent through social networking sites.
